Continuing the Reign of the Archduke

So I can happily report, having spent part of last week in Manhattan, that Franz Ferdinand is still in heavy rotation in bars and clubs all the way from the East Village to the West Village. As "it" bands with hyped albums go, that one is holding up extremely well. And it was cool to still hear talented New York locals (and supposedly really nice folks too) Stellastarr*. It's been a good spring for music.

Just to add two cents to the opinion... Put Binky in the camp of Franz Ferdinand lovers. I appreciate a band that is not afraid to be pop but takes the time to produce something other than a) crap or ii) pretentious art that appeals to six people. And it's good to see that stellarstarr* continues to impress. Bloodless Coup met them for the first time backstage after their set at Coachella, when any band would have been forgiven for being tired and cranky after playing inside a suffocating tent on a 106 degree afternoon. Not only was their show a blast, but they were gracious and patient with our writer and photographer.
