Better than Coffee at Waking you up.

Did you know that abortion causes sterility and suicide? Did you know that women who offer to many suggestions and advice, will drive away men? Did you know that half of gay male teenages have AIDS?

You didn't know this?

This is what our government is teaching teenagers in public schools in abstinence-only sex-ed programs. In addition to being WRONG (and I mean that in a fact-and-science-reality-based-way, not a moral way), it costs us about $170 million a year.

If anyone is looking for suggestions as to where to start cutting the federal deficit, I've got one.

Well, in a teaching environment where students are publicly reprimanded for mentioning a parent is gay - http://www.365gay.com/newscon04/12/120104schoolSuit.htm -
I can't say I'm surprised.

But yeah, let's slash every last penny. Hey, spend it all on solid platnium place settings for Bush's newly purchased yacht - that's a lot less damaging than spending that money on this nonsense.

Right. Like spending your tax dollars on lesbian eskomos in Alaska is a better choice? Or how about helping people sell fish? That's great government money at work. At least the abstinence class has a meaningful purpose.

It might be "meaningful" to teach these lessons - but I fail to see what teaching things that are factually inaccurate has to do with an educational system.

Hey, like I said, I'm not in favor of spending the money on any of this (and most reports seem to indicate that abstinence-only education doesn't really work), but could we at least not lie about it? I mean, isn't the credibility of the government important at all?

At least spending tax dollars to sell fish is economically worthwhile. This is useless.

not to mention that with nearly 3500 pork appropriations this year running in the billions, i don't think making fun of pet projects is the province of the right.

at least with naked eskimos you know what you're getting; with sex education, what you're actually getting is sex MISeducation and denial. and denial never kept a fourteen-year-old from getting herpes, or impregnating a thirteen-year-old.

i fail to see how trying to outlaw abortion and ignore the existence of birth control go together in an administration that cuts every entitlement (except those to corporations and the rich) it can get its grubby little paws on.
