Michael Powell Out

Ding-dong-the-witch-is-dead!

The censor-in-chief (aka FCC chairman) that led the fight against such fundamental threats to American society as the exposure of Janet Jackson's breast is resigning.

i think when he gives his press conference he should approach the dais to a rousing anthem such as, hmmm, i don't know, how about "the thong song."

good f%$king riddance. it might not be any better under his successor, but it can't be any worse. unless bush appoints billy graham. which wouldn't entirely shock me.

Dr. Reverend Whatever Dobson would be worse. He'd make Billy Graham look like Eddie Murphy in his "Raw" days. Well, maybe not that, but, he'd be worse.

Powell was certainly bad. While his indecency/obscenity stuff got more press, his decisions on deregulation of the media have done more damage to political discourse in this country than anything else he has done.

However, don't celebrate until you see who gets nominated in his place. Things could definately get worse.
