If You Are Disgusted by Star Jones Reynolds and The View ...

... and c'mon, who's not, you should take a minute out of your life to read this review of the performances of Mrs. Jones Reynolds and co-host Kathy Griffin on what I guess should be referred to as the pre-game special that preceded this year's Golden Globes Awards. I would never in a billion years thought that I would deeply regret missing Star Jones and pre-awards-show schmoozing before something put on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, but this commentary on the coverage makes me really wish I'd watched it. It sounds hilarious, albeit in a somewhat appalling fashion.

I especially love the reactionary full disclosure at the end, as though we readers would be upset if we later found out we'd been duped by a Kathie Lee partisan. It does sound like she's working hard to get back into show business, and maybe with a work ethic like that she can be promoted to manager at one of the sweat shops in Honduras where children made her clothes.

Not a bad observation Morris ... the ending is cute. But you are confusing Kathie Lee with the woman who actually did this - Kathy Griffin. Griffin is probably best known for her work on Suddenly Susan (so, yeah, she's probably on the mark in calling herself a D-list celebrity). My favorite Kathy Griffin moment is one of those quick cutaways they do on The Family Guy. They show her for like 8 seconds as a Griffin family cousin who won't shut up. What's funny is that while Lois and Peter discuss her endless chatter you can just barely hear what Kathy is saying while she won't shut up - and it was definitely not dialogue fit for "family" television.

i have such a love-hate thing with KG. she's absolutely effing hilarious, but her voice gets abrasive after a while. it sounds like the GG show was vintage her, however, and i'm sorry i missed it.

She was also quite good on newsradio, which in general I liked, though I 1) usually loathe sitcoms and 2) don't watch TV except on vacation. Perhaps it's because I'm a sucker for Dave Foley, though lately his thing with the celebrity poker has me thinking he too is sliding down the alphabet.

Bro,
Thanks for the correction. Now that I remember who Kathie Griffin is, I know I like Kathie Gifford more, I think she's caused less suffering. Isn't there anything below D-List? I mean isn't she more Sureal Life than Celebrity Mole material.

Binky - are you sure you're not thinking of Vicki Lewis from News Radio? And of course if you are thinking of Vicki Lewis ... perhaps that Ms. Griffin is so easily confused with others means that Morris is right and she's not even D-list celebrity material (though I'd never be so cruel as to suggest she should join the cast of the Surreal Life).

No, I'm thinking Kathie Griffin...maybe I'm wrong on newsradio. Aha! It wasn't newradio...I am confusing it with Suddenly Susan. Brain cells....

However, I am still a sucker for Dave Foley. He's very cute in drag.

Hmmm ... I love Kids in the Hall ... but if we're going for the "cutest" of them I'd say Bruce. Though as to the funniest in drag, that might be Kevin (not that Bruce and Dave weren't extremely funny).

I didn't say funny, I said cute. :)

I saw Kathy Griffin on a panel with Martin Mull and Coolio yesterday, the best of twelve years of AFV. I guess Dr. Joyce Brothers and Charo were busy. It's kind of sad, really.
