She should be ashamed of herself for proposing this - both for the sensationalism of this proposal, and incorporation of such a ridiculous matter in US tax policy. Besides - aren't DLC Democrats like her supposed to be against new taxes?
Posted by armand at July 27, 2005 12:05 PM | TrackBack | Posted to PoliticsFyi, in case you want to know the names of the other Democrats taking part in this shameless pandering - The Senate bill is cosponsored by Senators Tom Carper (D-Del.), Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Mary Landrieu (D-La.), Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.), Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), Evan Bayh (D-Ind.), and Kent Conrad (D-N.D.). The House version was introduced by Reps Jim Matheson (D-Utah) and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.). I'd say that this could well knock Bayh off the list of Dems I'd consider for the White House, and it adds to the list of reasons that I hope Menendez doesn't get appointed to the Senate this fall.
