Blogfamily

1) Crooked Timber 2) May Day 2004 3) I don't know of any, maybe MoonOverPittsburgh?

What am I talking about? Via Pharyngula, the Who's Your Daddy project at The Politburo Diktat. The task is to list who inspired you to blog, when you started, and if you have any blog children. Baltar and Armand might have different ideas about the first answer, but for me what gave me the kick in the pants to start was Crooked Timber, first because they were academics (like we are) and second that they had a quality group effort (which I wanted to be, since I was unsure if I could sustain a blog on my own). I don't know that we can claim Moon as a "child" but I'd like to think we encouraged him. Maybe younger brother?

I'm content to be identified as a child of BC. It took a while for the seed to germinate, but I was relatively unaware of the blogosphere generally, at least as a venue for policy debate, until I met Armand and he introduced me to the Coup.

And if BC is my blog parent, does that mean I have to rebel, resent, be embarrassed by? Hmmm, food for thought.

I think it means I have to catch you sneaking into the house drunk at 3am on a school night.

The page had to be moved because it was getting too complicated, so here is the new link.

Baltar, on your behalf I emailed and said that actually, putting us (with Crooked Timber and Pharyngula) in the lefty column was not so accurate - that we were probably "other" as in academic, and that in addition we were bipartisan, but hey. Looks like you're one of us now, even though you've still got that R next to your name.
