New Appointees for the PA Supreme Court and 9th Circuit

It looks like the unexpectedly open seat on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court is going to be filled without much controversy. Governor Rendell is going to nominate Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Cynthia Baldwin to fill that vacancy. Judge Trott's seat on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals? There may be more of a fight over that one as the president is trying to name a judge from Idaho to fill a "California seat".

Hey, I studied Federal Jurisdiction with Hellman. He's a genius. FedJur is the master class for serious wonks at every law school; at Columbia, it's taught by Professor Monaghan to the tune of six credit-hours, with a tacit understanding that he'll recommend his best students for excellent federal clerkships. Anyway, I just think it's cool that my former prof was quoted in the article regarding the shifting of a seat to Idaho.
