The High School Quiz

Via Pharyngula.

Let the dorkitude reign! (below the fold)

Where did you graduate from and what year?

Forest Hill High School 1986

Who was your significant other?

I suppose. My mom called all my friends' parents at 3am to find out where I was.

What was your favorite song you danced to the night of Prom?

I didn't dance.

Do you own all 4 yearbooks?

Yes.

What was your favorite movie in high school?

Breakfast Club. Oh, come on, it was high school.

What was your number 1 choice of college in high school?

The one for which I didn't have to fill out an essay on the application. I received one stamped "pre-approved" and there I went. For an Honor student, I was such the lazy fucker.

What radio station did you jam out to in high school?

103 WSHE She's only rock and roll.

Were you involved in any organizations or clubs?

Band! All four years. Honor society, Leo Club.

What was your favorite class in high school?

Chemistry, English, Comparative Political Systems, Latin.

Who was your big crush in high school?

Hmmm, assuming this means unrequited it had to be Danny Broderick.

Would you say you’ve changed a lot since highschool?

Some ways, yes, especially in the comforming to suburban norms department. Some ways, hell no, as the geek flag still flies high.

What do you miss the most about it?

Playing music every day. Or maybe going to the beach with my friends several times a week.

Your worst memory of HS?

The constant pain of being a dork. So, really, not bad.

Red White and Blue.

Who was your favorite teacher?

Glenna Starr (Latin), Jane Sturgis (Comparative Political Studies) and Cindy Wilson (English) I loved as humans and teachers. Alan King was an awesome math teacher. Mr. Miller (Chemistry) was a freak, and posted a map "on the rear bulkhead" with all the communist countries outlined in red, and the iffy ones in dashed red. I still remember what he taught, even if he wasn't a favorite.

Did you own a cell phone in high school?

They did not exist. I didn't even have a cordless phone.

Yes.

Yes. Three times.

When it comes time for the reunion will you be there?

Good grief no. The people I still care about from high school are still in touch, and none care about the reunion. I've missed a few already, I think. Our 20th is next year, and I have no interest.

Oh good grief, what an awful quiz - I've successfully forgotten about such much of those long ago years when the president's father was president (and that guy who used to act with chimps too). But if you are going to force me, a few things I remember:

Where did you graduate from and what year?

C.E. Byrd Math/Science Magnet High School 1989

Who was your significant other?

The longest one? Laura B. I guess.

Was your Prom a night to remember?

Didn't go - as I recall there was some sort of social schism about the whole affair. And besides, even the social set didn't take anything that late in the year (which wouldn't appear in photos in the yearbook) seriously.

What was your favorite song you danced to the night of Prom?

See above.

Do you own all 4 yearbooks?

I have my senior year one in my house. The other 3? My mom might still have them.

What was your favorite movie in high school?

No freakin' clue. I liked Ferris a lot.

What was your number 1 choice of college in high school?

Princeton. Had to settle for G-town instead.

What radio station did you jam out to in high school?

Again, no freakin' clue.

Were you involved in any organizations or clubs?

Too many to remember them all. Let's see, of what I remember: Student Council (Chairman of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Chairman of the School Spirit Committee - hard to believe, I realize); the school paper (Business Manager and occasional reporter); President of Quill and Scroll; Senior Class Secretary; French Club; Spanish Club; Academic Decathalon (and at least 2 or 3 other academic competition teams like Quiz Bowl); Key Club ... probably some other shit too.

What was your favorite class in high school?

I suppose I learned the most in American History, but I liked Journalism a lot.

Who was your big crush in high school?

Uh, again, that was an awfully long time ago.

Would you say you’ve changed a lot since highschool?

Enormously.

What do you miss the most about it?

I don't miss it.

Your worst memory of HS?

Freshman year as a whole.

Did you have a car ?

No.

What were your school colors?

Purple and Gold. Freebird was our class song, btw.

Who was your favorite teacher?

Mrs. Bowdon (journalism) and Ms. Whitehead (American History, Civics, Free Enterprise) leap to mind.

Did you own a cell phone in high school?

They did not exist.

Did you leave campus for lunch?

Doubt it.

Were you always late to class?

"Always"? No.

Did you ever have to stay for Sat. School?

We didn't have that.

Did you ever ditch?

Yes. And certainly more than 3 times Binky. :)

When it comes time for the reunion will you be there?

If we ever have one - maybe.

Quite the little joiner, weren't you?

Posted by: binky at December 31, 2005 01:37 PM | PERMALINK

Where did you graduate from and what year?

The Wheeler School, 1986.

Who was your significant other?

Never had one.

Was your Prom a night to remember?

Not really. Me and another guy cooked our dates dinner at my house, and my dad actually let us have a bottle of some Italian sparkling wine to drink with the food. I think I remember that as being more fun that the actual prom.

What was your favorite song you danced to the night of Prom?

Honestly have no clue.

Do you own all 4 yearbooks?

I think so. I don't know where they are. I worked on it for at least one year, maybe more.

What was your favorite movie in high school?

Back then? Shoot, I can barely remember the music I liked then, and I like music much better than movies. Probably Star Wars and Patton, but I'd just be guessing.

What was your number 1 choice of college in high school?

Harvard. Settled on Cornell.

What radio station did you jam out to in high school?

WBRU (Brown University college station; indie rock) and WHJY (AOR format)

Were you involved in any organizations or clubs?

Like Armand, way more than I can remember. Four years of Soccer, three of Lacrosse, theater (set building) a year, Academic Decathalon, some sort of math competition, Judicial Review Board, and likely more I've forgotten.

What was your favorite class in high school?

Physics and Chemistry with Ormsbee (he built his own equipment, and was basically insane; he would make something explode just about every class) and some of the history classes.

Who was your big crush in high school?

Simone Ruechmeyer.

Would you say you’ve changed a lot since highschool?

I certainly hope so.

What do you miss the most about it?

I'm honestly not sure I miss anything about high school. I wish I had my family's house, but that's irrelevant.

Your worst memory of HS?

Uh, pretty much any social interaction. Even more so if it involved the opposite sex.

Did you have a car ?

Sometimes. It went back and forth between rides from parents, public busses, and driving a family car.

What were your school colors?

Purple and Gold.

Who was your favorite teacher?

Mark Johnson-Harris (special programs), Ormsbee (chem & physics), Huffstader (history)

Did you own a cell phone in high school?

If they were around, I wasn't aware of it. No.

Did you leave campus for lunch?

As a senior you could, so I did most of the time.

Were you always late to class?

Never.

Did you ever have to stay for Sat. School?

Never.

Did you ever ditch?

I went on "senior skip day" to the beach, which is sort of skipping and sort of not. Other than that, not that I can remember.

When it comes time for the reunion will you be there?

Didn't go to any of the ones so far, can't see as to how I'll change that.

i'm not going to do all of these, but a few comments come to mind:

* if you graduated after wall street came out, cell phones existed, just not for high school students.

* i drove a 1980 Mustang. i sure know from drifting. :-)

* armand, i was on those quiz teams, too -- that and baseball and the literary magazine (in my senior year i think my items occupied fully 20 percent of our two volumes in a school of over a thousand students) were my only real joinders.

* oh, and i went to my tenth reunion a couple of years ago. it was actually way more fun than i expected it would be. perhaps in part because i grew up in a nice suburb near new york, and quite a few of my classmates have gone on to do really interesting things.
