Or at least desperately wishing to emulate the Jerry Lewis-lovers (who, the report notes, have what are arguably the most aggressive and successful anti-terrorism policies in Europe)?

Until the Iraq war debate, with the attendant "Freedom Fries" thing, France was our staunchest ally and most effective partner in the "War on Terrah."

They still are, in their own way (they're a separate state; why should be expect them to do everything we would do? They have their own interests and goals).
