This morning Ann Althouse posted a few pictures of some of the architectural gems of Madison, Wisconsin - including a couple of shots of Wright's "Airplane House", and (are you sitting down?) a picture of a frat house designed by Louis Sullivan. I'm not often surprised, but I never expected to type that last phrase.

And I'm surprised no one bit on how I got to sleep in the Sullivan house.

They have a policy of allowing alumni and their families to stay at the house when in town. We spent a night there back in the 80s when I traveled with my sister and bro-in-law to check out the U. So I slept in one of the rooms that Ann Althouse talks about being normally cluttered. It really wasn't bad at all. And having been a little sister at a frat at UF, I've seen the insides of some totally wrecked frat houses.
