The Economist: "The Accidental War"

Does anyone else have a problem with the cover of this week's issue of The Economist? The cover story is "The Accidental War". Am I the only person who doesn't see much "accidental" in this war?

Another accidental paper from... The Economist !

It's now turning, it seems, into a regular habit with The Economist!

(remember them? They're the ones who called Bush... "the accidental president' !)

First, they rightly pick out the high stakes of a situation and properly denounce "the usual pieties".

And then they turn and join the PC and moral equivalence crowd to demand... "the usual pieties" !

They say: "Stop the madness in South Lebanon! I say: "Stop the madness and the usual pieties at... The Economist!

Wasn't the "accidental president" thing published, like, five and a half years ago? I don't see where two uses in six years constitutes "madness"... or do you have another ten or fifteen examples for us?

"Wasn't the "accidental president" thing published, like, five and a half years ago?" ...

Exactly ! It just happens to be the time that Bush has been in charge of US foreign policy so all you have to do is pick all the articles they wrote since then on Bush and his foreign policy and notably the Iraq war (which they originally supported before turning their coats and joining the PC crowd when the going got too tough) and you' ll have your examples ...
