I've seen (via my own family, friends, or spouses of friends) who have faced life-threatening illness and freaked out, seemingly endangering the most central relationships in their lives. Some realize what's really going on, some don't. It takes some people too long to realize it isn't all about them, and others too long to realize that it is a-ok for it to be all about them, at least for awhile.
Guess I'm saying, facing death makes you deal with shit. And it ain't often pretty.
In any case...luck to them, both with the prognosis for health and resolving the relationship, either way. She seems strong, and with the support of great kids. Maybe the blog wasn't helping, even if it seemed to us like it was a source of support.
In any case, hers is an excellent voice out there (not just on cancer, but race, body image, aging, and on and on), and hopefully this is just a hiatus.
