Idle Question

Wouldn't you rather your elected officials take an oath on a book in which they believed?

I mean, it totally helped Duke Cunningham to swear on the bible, with that eighth commandment and all.

What book would you choose?

The dictionary?

Maybe a blank book... "it's Zen scripture".

A copy of our goddamn Constitution? Or maybe they should keep that to read.

You think the government has any copies left? They seem to have misplaced them all.

I dunno. The Republicans running the Executive, and Republicans (formerly) running the Legislature sure have lost them, though I wonder if a few at the state level might have a few around.

Hey, is Romney really going to make a run for Prez? I just don't see this working.

I think Romney is in. I'm not sure he'll get very far, but in his favor he really does have a great square-jawed smart-executive-who-listens vibe going when he's at his best. He gives a good speech and he hears what people say. That said, I don't think the wingnuts will buy a Mormon and I think the moderates will be looking elsewhere, but we'll see.

The underwear questions will be fun, at least.

Especially after the dustup over Andrew Sullivan posting pictures of the "magic jammies" (as someone we know with Utah connections calls them). Hey, you think Romney would want to swear his oath on the Book of Mormon?! Someone call Dennis Prager!
