And it reminds me of an old Brazilian joke (two versions, depending on your class allegiance:

Um anjo comentou que depois da criação do mundo, o Brasil não tem furacão, não tem terremoto, nem vulcão... e perguntou ao Deus "não é uma injustiça aos outros paises?" E o Deus respondeu "mas olha pra o povo."

So, the joke goes:

An angel commented after the earth was created that Brazil didn't have any natural disasters... no hurricanes, no earthquakes, not even any volcanoes, and asked God, "Isn't this unfair to the other countries?" but God responded "but look at the people."

The other version replaces "people" with "classe politica" (the political class).
