Thank goodness I prefer filth and lumber...

... and sacks of dirt, because we have a nice regular Lowe's right here in town, saving me from ever having to consider wasting a dime of my money at Home Depot.

Hat Tip to Shakespeare's Sister, and a crapload of other places also snorting in disbelief.

Unbelievable...where's a feminist backlash when you need it?

Hey there! How go the salt mines? Looks like they have instituted a new karaoke policy, eh?

Home Depot will never get it. The ones around here have piss-poor customer service; how is reminding me that I'm a laydee supposed to make up for that?

Case in point, I once stood around for 45 minutes in a Home Depot waiting for someone to figure out who could tell me what form I needed to fill out to custom-order a marble bathroom sink. I finally just walked out. I haven't been back since.

What breaks my heart is that there used to be McCoy's stores in our area that had great service, very knowledgeable staff, and they're gone now. Thanks, HD.

We still have a local plumbing store that I always go to for my plumbing needs. It's the kind of place that has old guys that just hang around, and they may or may not be customers, friends, or employees. They lok at me like I'm an alien, but there's at least a couple of guys who will help. I make a habit of bringing in 50-100 year old (broken) parts and asking them for help in how to fix it. Get 'em with curiosity. Home Depot, on the other hand, is 35 miles down the road, and generally has a bin for something maybe that seems like it might work for what I want, but damned if there's anyone around who really know if that's true, and/or how to use it.

HD once made a point of hiring as many of those old guys as possible, but then Bob Nardelli took over and they all got laid off or quit.

Oh, and you know it's not actually called "Her Depot", but rather "Home Depot Design Center", right?
