Is It Ever Going to Stop Snowing Today?

I decided hours ago that I wouldn't go to the office today. But I'm supposed to go to Granville tonight to see Enchanted. Will I? Maybe - but it remains to be seen whether or not I'll be able to move my car later as the snow just won't stop.

Goodness, no! Miss Enchanted!? I adore Amy Adams -- and after Junebug how could I not? -- but Enchanted? Really?

Adams and Marsden and Sarandon in bitchy queen mode and Disney doing a satire (at least to a degree) of Disney? Sure, what's not appealing about that?

Though yeah Adams on her own would probably be enough (though the less said about that atrocious version of Cruel Intentions with her as SMG's character the better - damn that was awful). Damn Junebug was a good movie.

But we'll see if I make it out tonight. It's been snowing steadingly since some point last night, and since they don't de-snow my street (and as of yet haven't done that to the street it connects to either), I don't know if I'll be able to get my car out. It's really piled up outside.

We are now under a heavy snow warning! Supposedly 5-8 inches. I've been measuring and we're already over 5 (of course if you're walking on grass or whatever it's well over 5). And since they say it might be snowing for another 6 hours ...

Tomorrow morning's walk to school with all that on the ground and the temperature in the teens is going to be lovely. Just lovely.

And yes, those of you in upstate New York or Massachusetts or whatever can mock us for getting bothered by 8 inches of snow. But in many ways this place is kind of Southern, and we're not really designed to handle much.

Oh, I won't mock you. The forecast on Sunday afternoon was predicting 2-4" and the grocery stores were mobbed as my neighbors did their usual panic thing. (We got 4" or so that night, no big deal, schools were open in the morning.)

It just took me 2 1/2 hours to go three miles across town. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HOME!

how'd you get 6-8; we got maybe 3.
