A Joint Trip to Iraq

Well, of course it's a political stunt. But it's a damn clever one. Score one for the McCain campaign.

Intellectually honest, difficult question of policy I wish someone would ask in a public forum #127:

Sen. McCain, since you truck out the Obama wants to meet with Ahmadenijad [sic?] meme at the drop of a hat, and similarly play like the mere thought of engaging Raul Castro amounts to treason, please explain why you believe that those dangerous, freedom-hating dictators must be entirely shunned by the free world until the consequent angst and poverty lead to lawnessness and revolution among their people [sic], while when it comes to the dangerous, freedom-hating dictators leading Russia and China, you appear to agree with your conservative predecessors that the only solution for rampant political oppression and tyranny is full engagement with the engines of commerce in the west, including a seat at the table of all major international groups, full access to American heads of state, and effectively unrestricted access to the free world's markets? In other words, Sen. McCain why is it downright laughable that anyone might think that what has arguably been effective in China, albeit with caveats, would also work in Cuba, where nothing we have done in the last fifty years has been within spitting distance of "effective" by any measure?
