Palin: Loves That Pork (YOUR Money, as the Republicans Say) and Pat Buchanan

So Palin supported the "Bridge to Nowhere" and she likes congressional earmarks generally. Hmmm, interesting that McCain said exactly the opposite regarding her views on those issues as he introduced her today.

And she supported Pat Buchanan in 1999?

UPDATE: Oh, I see she said the opposite about her position on funding the Bridge to Nowhere. Lovely, it would appear that while introducing herself to the American people she lied. That does not bode well.

Apparently she is also a creationist who doesn't believe in global warming and wants to outlaw ALL abortions.

And yet, I saw a PUMA on Chris Matthews talking about how great she was.

Oh and when I heard her mispronounce "heroism" and then say nuclear like Dubya during her speech today, I cringed.

If we're lucky she could work out to be a cross between Harriet Miers and Dan Quayle. This could be fun!

Apparently Palin's office is claiming she was only wearing a Buchanan button b/c he was visiting her town. I find this fishy, but plausible. According to this story she was backing Teve Torbes in that election cycle. And that's supposed to make us feel better about her?

Nice spin, but Buchanan has been talking about how good friends he and Palin are, and how she was one of his top fundraisers in the 90s. So I guess Pat's been stabbing her in the back.

The interviews with Alaska political leaders are a scream. A lot of the Republicans are openly hostile and some of the ones who aren't sure aren't helping. My favorite line in these stories is this one from the Republican Speaker of the Alaska House: "He didn't want to get into the issue of her qualifications. 'She's old enough,' Harris said. 'She's a U.S. citizen.'"

Why yes, she is a US citizen whose over 35, so she's naturally the obvious choice for Vice President.

Tbogg linked to a comment from a moderate republican saying "I hate her" because of the policy of offering 150 bucks for wolf legs to hunters.

Also, watch Rove slam precisely this kind of pick as poor judgment. Not that I expect the MSM to notice the hypocrisy.

Also, Hoffmania has some links to Alaska papers asking WTF. One gave me a bit of new info... they didn't give back the bridge to nowhere money.

Mmmmm, porkity pork pork. So tasty. Too bad it got her on McCain's BAD LIST!
