Do I think she's "in the tank" for Obama, like Michelle Malkin suggests? No. If she'd the moderator I expect a tediously "fair and balanced" performance. But I don't think the moderator should be the story. And in this environment (a presidential campaign in which one side is already committed to running against the press corps) Ifill's book creates that possibility. Or rather, she sucked in prior attempts, and they were only attempts speaking generously, at moderating debates. Seriously, she's PBS and has had her moments, but I cringed at the announcement that she was moderating long before I knew she had a book coming with "Obama" in the title.
Then there's the whole "automatic pass" that M/P is going to claim in the event it goes poorly for their woman. And that's unacceptable. If Palin sucks as bad as she might, I don't want anything to detract from that fact.

I think Obama's team should propose replacing her. Heck, it's another way to show he's the bipartisan, "fair and balanced" guy. And there is a set of the country that eats that shit up.
