Ifill Should Be Replaced

Do I think she's "in the tank" for Obama, like Michelle Malkin suggests? No. If she'd the moderator I expect a tediously "fair and balanced" performance. But I don't think the moderator should be the story. And in this environment (a presidential campaign in which one side is already committed to running against the press corps) Ifill's book creates that possibility. Bring on Elizabeth Vargas, Ann Curry, or Campbell Brown. Posted by armand at October 1, 2008 04:23 PM | TrackBack | Posted to Media

Ooh, I like all three of those possibilities!

I object to Ifill just because she sucks. Or rather, she sucked in prior attempts, and they were only attempts speaking generously, at moderating debates. Seriously, she's PBS and has had her moments, but I cringed at the announcement that she was moderating long before I knew she had a book coming with "Obama" in the title.

Then there's the whole "automatic pass" that M/P is going to claim in the event it goes poorly for their woman. And that's unacceptable. If Palin sucks as bad as she might, I don't want anything to detract from that fact.

I can't say I disagree with any of that. And automatic pass is the exact way to put it. Either Palin wins, or the debate was unfair. I think Obama's team should propose replacing her. Heck, it's another way to show he's the bipartisan, "fair and balanced" guy. And there is a set of the country that eats that shit up.

How about Joy Behar?

Works for me - though Team McCain might object.

I don't like the idea of giving into McCain's rabid bullying, which is what this would amount to. It probably needs to happen, but it really pisses me off.

But McCain doesn't want her gone (and for good reason). If you don't want to give into Malkin's bullying, I get that - but I also want to win.
