Voting machines switching votes from D to R in West Virginia

And so it begins:

Three Putnam County voters say electronic voting machines changed their votes from Democrats to Republicans when they cast early ballots last week.

This is the second West Virginia county where voters have reported this problem. Last week, three voters in Jackson County told The Charleston Gazette their electronic vote for "Barack Obama" kept flipping to "John McCain".

I early voted in Mon County and both my screen and the in-machine paper printout were consistent. But damn sure I double checked.

UPDATE: And here and here. And what the hell:

"We don't print ballots out because we don't want people going down the street and have someone give them $20 or a pint of whiskey to buy votes.

Well, gosh by golly gee whiz. It's a good thing I don't have any teeth so I can't hold the paper ballot in my mouth, and if I had shoes for sure I'd use that ballot to line the bottom and cover the hole, or probably stick it in the pocket of my overalls and plum forget about the election all together. [head slap] What kind of condescension to the people he works for is that?

We have (optically scanned) printed ballots here in MA. Nobody ever offered me a damn pint of whiskey.

And there isn't any going out the door with one, either. It's not hard to set up the flow of foot traffic so that you have to WALK PAST A POLICE OFFICER (and *oh yeah!* the table with the election officials and the scanners) to leave the room once you have a (very large, like 18"x24" or so, bright pink or blue, not going to be fitting in your shirt pocket today) paper ballot.

Fucking stupid corrupt fucking fucktards.

I heard this on the radio this morning. When I voted in the primary, it was my first time voting with a machine (in PA, we had the little clicky flipper machine and in FL, basically, it was a scantron). I think I went back about five times to make sure that I indeed had voted for my candidate before I submitted my vote.
