Snot and exotic fruit

Geography is destiny.

Since moving to WV my allergies have been hideous, and I have recently begun using a neti pot. And for the first time, today, in the new Kroger which is set up to look rather like a Whole Paycheck, I held in my hand a bizarre and delightful looking fruit.

Why destiny as geography you ask? Apparently this is what happens to people - bloggers, at least - in this part of WV.

I have to say my allergies were 10 times worse in FL. All those live oaks... but you are one brave woman for trying the neti pot. I just can't bring myself to do that.

Well, for most of my life I lived near the coast, and I swear that the nearly constant breezes and regular rains did a lot to keep the pollen issues under control for me. Plus, they were my "home" allergens, and I probably got used to them at an early age. By this point, I've been in WV for ten years, you'd think I'd have an adjustment, but I don't. And for me this is the worst time of year... the indoor winter allergies. Dust is a killer, and with dry heat flying dust, it's inevitable.

As to the Neti pot, I was grossed out at the beginning and had some trouble getting it right (do NOT make the water too cold, or it will be self-induced ice cream headache) but now don't know what I would do without it. My problem is remembering to do it. What happens is that I am on about a 3x per week schedule, and I know it would be better to do every day. It's not that gross or that hard once you get the angle of your waist bend and head tilt lined up.
