After Texas Tech Beat Texas - Who Is #1?

Alabama, Penn St., or Texas Tech?

Of course Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma St. all still have to play one another, so how the Big 12 South will ultimately unfold remains to be seen.

Has to be Alabama

Really? The team that barely beat Ole Miss and Kentucky at home? I haven't seen anything from them in the last month that justifies that. Of the 3 big 3-0 teams (Boise St.'s been my favorite of the others all year long, but I don't see them being pushed in these discussions) I'd rank them 3rd. I'd probably rank Tech above Penn St.

Of course Florida may very well be the best team in the country, but since they've already lost a game I assume they won't enter into these discussions for a little while longer yet.

Okay, so the AP poll's Top Ten: 'Bama, Texas Tech, Penn State, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, Oklahoma State, Boise State, Utah.

Oh, and WVU is in at #20. Pitt is #25.

Yeah well the AP poll doesn't count for anything and the Coaches have it Bama, Penn State, Texas Tech. Personally I would have ranked Texas Tech number one. And how does the woeful ACC have FOUR two loss teams ranked and the Big East only has one (WVU at 23). Do we seriously think that UNC, GT, Maryland, and Florida State are better than Pitt and Cincy?

Ummm, not all of those ACC teams are that bad. But hey, at least we agree on Texas Tech's proper place.

And it remains a crime that the coaches poll matters given the many, many, many stories about how often coaches don't pay any attention to most other games and sometimes have other people fill out their ballots.

Well true, I would agree on ranking Maryland and GT and possibly UNC. FSU is the one that I really think hasn't done anything to deserve its lofty ranking.
