I have friends who ride the metrowest (Boston) bike trail to work in Cambridge every day -- unless there's so much snow that they can't physically get their bikes through it. Every. Day. Yeesh.

This spans months during which his commute from Pgh to the Sewickley suburb took him roughly 20 miles each way, and forced him to criss-cross the Ohio River to stick to cyclable roads, none of which are very pleasant, I can attest from far more limited experience of them.
My little 8-mile round-trip, when I'm in a groove, is limited only by extreme morning weather, but never by a forecase of extreme ride-home weather, which I actually rather enjoy -- riding through much and mayhem buoyed by the thought of a hot shower awaiting. Of course, nothing's wore than a 33-degree tube change in a sleet storm with tight little roadbike tires, but since I'm not very heavy, that doesn't happen nearly as often to me as it does to many of my friends.
Still, those guys in the video, ah, well, it's heartening to see.
