Marc Ambinder Clearly Thinks SCOTUS Nominees Should Be Sitting on a Court

How else to explain his dismissive comments about Jennifer Granholm and Janet Napolitano? People across DC read him, so his thoughts may matter in terms of the initial reaction to the nominee. And if he's well-informed, it looks like I may lose a bet.

Ha! Well, I like prior judging experience, but I'll settle for a legal scholar who hasn't been on the bench. If Obama feels similarly -- and I suspect that he wouldn't settle for less than that, as a former law prof -- that probably bars both Napolitano and Granholm (not so sure about the latter), but I don't think it knocks out Kagan.
