What Was the Sexiest Romance on TV?

That's your pop culture question of the morning (apropos of a little post on Buffy/Spike being sexier than Buffy/Angel). Any thoughts?

Well, Buffy/Spike is a LOT sexier than Buffy/Angel. That being said, I'm having a hard time thinking WAY back and can only think of current TV shows. The Jack/Kate/Sawyer triangle (quadrangle if you include Juliet) on Lost? McDreamy/Meredith on Grey's? And yes, as a Sex and the City fan, I'd like to keep Carrie/Big off this list. They piss me off too much.

And, as a former Catholic school girl, I would be remiss in not including Father Ralph and Meggie from the Thorn Birds. I have to watch that DVD at least once a year, and it was a TV miniseries, so it counts, even though we now know it pained Richard Chamberlain to film those love scenes with Rachel Ward.

I don't think Lost is sexy (though I'm still a farn of it of course), but if I had to pick a couple there I'd be inclined to say Sawyer/Juliet.

And I haven't seen the Thornbirds since I was little so I can't comment on that.

Honestly I'm not sure who I'd put here. I'm sure I most be forgetting some people, but perhaps the people I most enjoy on tv aren't coupled often. Baltar and 6 leap to mind here. Maybe Agent Cooper and Audrey Horne (more a flirtation than a couple though). But I presume I'm forgetting some obvious possibilities.

I think it's the "sexy" that's throwing us off. There are some great romances (Niles and Daphne for instance) but "sexy" is gritty and hard.

Doesn't have to be. Could be playful and fun. But I think this mostly just shows us that for as purient as tv might be these days, tv remains remarkably lacking in the sexy. I guess the FRC and Helen Lovejoy should be proud - though oddly they still think the end of civilization is nigh.

I agree. I'm having a hard time coming up with "sexy".
