The awards were largely a bore, and followed the money. Avatar, The Blind Side, Sherlock Holmes, Up, The Hangover (The Hangover?!?!?!?), if your film made a bundle and/or you showed up in a lot of magazines, you won.But of course the Globes are as much about the clothes, so whose did you like? I was a fan of Penelope Cruz, Zoe Saldana, Chloe Sevigny, Livia Giuggioli (Mrs. Colin Firth), and most of all, Emily Blunt.
Posted by armand at January 18, 2010 08:42 AM | TrackBack | Posted to Random ThoughtsGotta disagree. I thought Chloe Sevigny had possibly the worst dress of the entire event. And Zoe Saldana's patchwork quilt thing wasn't much better.
I did like Emily Blunt and Penelope Cruz's. Also Jennifer Garner.

I'm not sure how much I would have liked Saladana's dress on its own, but I liked it on her immensely. I was actually looking at the screen when she was giving whatever prize she was presenting and I thought it just fit with her beautifully. kikimonster agrees with you on Chloe. And I didn't love that either when she was on stage - but I like it a lot in pictures. And the Project Runway-watcher in me wants to reward some boldness - there needs to be something interesting to break up the procession of strapless and drapes and chiffon.

And the color didn't help her much either. I loved Drew Barrymore's frock. There's something about champagne and sparkliness that I love.
Posted by: kikimonster at January 18, 2010 02:22 PM | PERMALINKWell you can take up what = ingenuity with folks at Valentino. But then I even liked the color of Ms. Sevigny's dress. While with Ms. Barrymore's (which I didn't dislike) my first thought was - why are there luffas glued to that?
