Of course the poli sci lit is pretty clear on the point that divided government is good for fighting budget deficits (so vote for Democrats in the congressional races this fall) - but quite apart from partisan/governmental structure reasons for the deficit, the level at which this president seems to love deficits - well, it seems to exceed anything tied to that. Fiscal stability and the future welfare of your kids (or you yourself in your retirement years) be damned - he's a man who just can't get enough of big government spending.
