You've Got a Bit of a Shoplifting Prolem

You are really bad at it.

So I began watching Veronica Mars on dvd a couple of weeks ago. And between her spunkiness, her crime-solving abilities and her acerbic wit I'd already become a Veronica Mars fan. And considering the writing and the appealing cast I'd become a Veronica Mars fan too. But I just finished episode 12 of season 1 last night, and I've got to say that when she started sining a Blondie song I almost lost it. I mean, what can't she do? I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season - and the series.

So I finally finished season 1 last night - and I remain a big fan of this show. The last two episodes wrapped up the big mysteries that had been hanging over the series since the start of the first episode. The episode that revealed the answer to the rape mystery was superb. The episode that revealed who killed Lilly Kane - well those last 10 minutes of horror/suspense movie cliches were beyond tiresome. But up until then it was great. And I thought the "answers" to both mysteries were quite satisfying.

And the way they've left things for season 2 is really interesting. There are a couple characters that I've found interesting who might not be back given how the last episode went. But given how people's motivations, perceptions and places in the 09-er pecking order have been shaken up, things could move in some interesting new directions. And hopefully we'll see much more of Mac, that great sleazy low-rent lawyer, and my new favorite character (or the one who's joined the list of my favorites, which is lately headed by Logan of all people), Beaver (Cassidy) Casablancas. I'm guessing we've seen the last of Amanda Seyfried's Lilly, and that's a shame, but happily (I hope) the show goes on.

And SWEET - episode 1 of season 2 has set up some great possibilities for the 2nd season of this show. Not only are both of the Casablancas boys now regulars - they've added Charisma Carpenter as their stepmom! And I've gotta say it - she looks great in a bikini.

Oh, and yeah they set up 2 big mysteries, either one of which could run the length of the whole season. So that's cool too. At this rate (since it's definitely keeping my interest) I'll catch up to the real-time airing of this series by Thanksgiving.
