what, they don't want masses of hired guns who aren't subject to their laws running around their violent land shooting up the place? who'd have ever guessed that?

Let's see, four get killed in Fallujah when they fail at their mission (security), and when they succeed and kill the other guys when they get shot at, Iraq kicks them out. Maybe it's about time we pull up the stakes in Iraq.

Morris that was years ago - and this is far, FAR from the first time Blackwater people have shot up civilians in the country. Given that they've done that, and that they are exempt from Iraqi law, it's hardly surprising that eventually the Iraqi government would decided they'd want them out of the country.

Though of course maybe now the people in question simply move on to some other mercenary company.

They were being shot at suddenly turns into "shot up civilians"? What's with that?

Well gosh, I don't know, ask the Iraqi officials who said (in the current AP story on the latest incident) - "Iraqi security officials said most of the dead and wounded were bystanders."

Well, what do you think they were gonna say, "I was a lookout, and I sent a signal to my buddy that Americans were coming through"?

Uhhh - so you are saying that all Iraqi officials are inherently incompetent and untrustworthy and can't be relied upon to tell the difference between bad guys and civilians?

If so, lovely bunch we're dying for to keep in power.

By the way, Larry Johnson has a post on this at TPMCafe that's worth looking at.

I can't wait for the next administration's in-depth investigation of Blackwater. It will be absolutely fascinating, in a "holy fucking shit you're kidding oh wait they're not kidding" kind of way.
