So When Is the Right Going to Decry Un-American Todd Palin?

Following up on something Binky noted earlier - So the US of A isn't good enough for Mr. Palin? And maybe Governor Palin too?

So here's the question. Which would do more damage to McCain's chances -- keeping her, or booting her soonish and choosing someone who is dull but broadly unobjectionable (Portman? like that) instead?

If he dumps her, the wingnut base is going to howl. They are in love with her, the baby and the fetus.

But if he keeps her, he could end up with a Mondale-class loss -- with nobody BUT the wingnut base supporting him. He needed to execute flawlessly to have any chance against the Obama GOTV machine. This ain't flawlessly.

Yeah but if he ditches her he will look super incompetent, and like Flippy McFlopperson. And the evangelicals will have a conniption. I mean, sure, he's shown himself to be hasty, rash and not very smart in decision-making so he could go to either bad choice (keep her, dump her). But I'm better that the glow [edit: I have no idea what I was trying to type here... I think I meant to say "I'm betting the ???] of the evangelicals on this will sway his mind and he will keep her. Even though she may develop into his own personal albatross.
